DRUM?

DRUM?

Controls

To begin
Press PLAY; the samples load and it begins. MILD, NORMAL and RUINED are the quickest way to re-roll it.
PLAY / REC
Start and stop, and record what is played. The samples load on the first press; LOADED appears when they have arrived.
HEAT / WEAR / DRY
Prepared settings for the overall texture; one press moves everything at once.
MILD / NORMAL / RUINED
Re-roll at random. The further right, the rougher what comes back.
TONAL
Mutes the pitched layer.
▸ / CLOSE
The ▸ at the top right opens the detailed panel; CLOSE shuts it. What follows is inside.
TEMPO / SWING / HUMAN / VARISPEED
Tempo, swing, how far the hits wander, and a shift in playback speed.
LENGTH / RES / BANK / CHAIN / EDIT
The length, the resolution, and four banks to switch between. With CHAIN on, the banks run one after another.
GENERATE / GEN ×4 / SKELETON / SHUFFLE
Writing patterns. GEN ×4 does all four banks at once; SKELETON leaves only the bones, with CUT FAT setting how much is taken away.
TRACK
The settings for the selected track: which sample, TUNE, DECAY, CHANCE that it sounds at all, PUSH for early or late, STACK, DUCK for how far it steps aside for the others.
SOURCE
The quality of the sound itself: SPREAD, LOOSE, the number of MICS, and HISS and BOX for the feel of a room recording.
TONE
The pitched layer. KEY and PROGRESSION set the chords, VOICES the number of parts, TONIC how strongly it leans home, and the G controls how it is chopped.
TAPE / CASSETTE
The wear of tape and cassette: WOW and FLUTTER for the wobble, GHOSTS for what lingers, and CRACKLE, DROPOUT and FAULT for age.
ROOM / BUS
The kind and amount of room, and the saturation and compression across everything.
