UZUMI
You build a piece by placing sounds onto an eight-bar tape. Everything you place, and every treatment you apply, is burnt into the waveform on the spot — there is no undo.

Controls
- To begin
- PLAY sets the eight bars turning. You can start from nothing, but SKETCH writes one worked-out arrangement onto the tape, and each press lays another over it.
- Placing sounds
- Choose DROP, pick one of the fourteen kinds below, and tap the screen: the sound is written in at that spot. Across is time within the eight bars, up and down is distance. Near is loud, dry and bright; far is quiet, dark and set back in the reverb. Drag a percussive kind and you lay a roll; drag a sustaining one sideways and that is its length.
- The tools
- Six of them sit beside DROP. Drag across a stretch and it is treated: SOAK burns reverb into it, PITCH moves it up or down by as much as twelve semitones, REV turns it backwards, MUFFLE closes it down, FADE lowers it, CUT empties it. AMOUNT sets how far each goes.
- Nothing comes off
- Both the sounds you place and the treatments you apply are written straight into the waveform. No layers are kept, so nothing can be taken back out on its own, and there is no undo. To remove something, empty that stretch with CUT, or press CLEAR twice and wash the whole tape.
- The sliders
- BPM runs from 90 to 150; moving it re-lays the whole tape. KEY is the key, and moving it draws a fresh chord progression. DUST is how much grain and fire runs underneath, DUCK how far that is pushed down by the music on top, VOL the level.
- Recording
- REC writes two times round out to a wav file. All the material is CC0, and the CC0 button lists where each part of it came from.
